Case Study - Providing Quality Care Rapidly

In January 2018, TPG Complex Care began working with a client in Staffordshire who suffers from Cerebral Palsy and needs care and support from care staff 24/7.

We received a call from Staffordshire CCG on a Monday afternoon asking us if we could take on their client as his previous care providers had given him notice and were ceasing care on the Wednesday. TPG Complex Care assessed the client the following morning, put a care plan in place and started providing care from Wednesday morning.  A carer with relevant experience was quickly identified from our range of competent staff and notified of her new assignment.

On arrival at the client’s home, we found he was extremely nervous about having a change of the most important part of his everyday life. Our team were able to promptly put him at ease and make sure that he was happy with the new care plan, within half an hour of talking it through he said ‘I’m so relieved to have you working with me’.

With this package, there was no need for additional Nurse Intervention, as it was clear that the Carer was experienced in dealing with needs of this client. As we were able to support him so rapidly, we have made it possible for the client to continue living independently, giving him the continuity of care and our support to pursue his private interests.

To this end, both the Client and the Carer were happy for this to proceed and following the 24-hour quality check both parties were working well together.
